This course explores the relationships that humans have cultivated with animals, both in the past and in the present. Topics include: domestication and the development of human/animal bonds, personhood and pets/companion animals, pets and health, the rise of celebrity pets on social media, and gendered relationships with pets, among others.

Prerequisite: Registration in Level II or above in any program.
